The Central government has moved the Supreme Court of India seeking a stay on proceedings in various courts in the country in cases relating to the discontinuation of Rs 500 and Rs. 1000 notes..The matter was mentioned today by Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi before a Bench presided by Justice Anil R Dave..Rohatgi said that different courts were hearing petitions, resulting in chaos and that all the proceedings should be stayed, since the Supreme Court is already seized of the matter..The plea by the Centre has been made by way of an interim application in the batch of petitions challenging the discontinuation of 500 and 1000 notes..The plea will be heard tomorrow..Two days ago, the apex court expressed its reluctance to interfere with the policies of the government.
