Delhi lawyers to burn effigy of Kiran Bedi today

Condemning the decision to project Kiran Bedi as the Chief Minister of Delhi, the Co-ordination committee of all District Court Bar Associations of Delhi has decided to burn the effigy of Kiran Bedi today at 1 pm at the Central Hall of Tiz Hazari Court..As per the press release of the Co-ordination Committee, the decision to project her as the CM “on the basis of her administrative skill is contrary to the records”..However, what seems to still irk the Delhi lawyers is the lathi charge of lawyers in 1988 as is evidenced by the following excerpt from the press release:.“It is known in all circles that Mrs. Kiran Bedi has been highly irresponsible and lack administrative skills as she absconded from duties as Superintendent of Goa and DIG Range Mizoram. Even in Delhi, when she was posted as DCP, North, she did everything to take avenge from lawyers of Tis Hazari court who were demanding commission of enquiry against brutal lathi charge on innocent lawyers in connivance with one local corporator of Delhi by brining anti-social elements in thousands in the guise of litigants to assault lawyers and damaged their vehicles and chambers.”.The press release also states that,.“…barbaric acts of Kiran Bedi were not limited to lawyers as she repeated the same acts against innocent persons taking Ram Lila processions and even the grieving protestors taking Muharram tazia procession were not spared.”.Alleging that Bedi “is known for creating circumstances to come in news”, the press release concludes by stating that,.“the legal fraternity in no circumstances shall ever accept Mrs. Bedi as the Chief Minister of Delhi and therefore has decided to burn her effigy at 1 pm on 22.1.2015 at Central Hall, Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi.”.HT to @DeepikaBhardwaj for sharing the press release on twitter..Image taken from here.
