A strike called today by the co-ordination committee of the All District Court Bar Associations of Delhi (ADCBAD) has been a success, according to Chairman of the Association NC Gupta..Members of all the district bar associations in the capital were asked to observed a complete abstention of work today. The lawyers’ grouse is with the alleged inaction by the police in a case pertaining to a shooting outside the residence of Pramod Nagar, President of the Shahdara Bar Association..According to sources, the attempt on Nagar’s life was made almost ten days ago by a group of 40-50 armed miscreants who assembled outside his residence and opened fire..Gupta reveals that the firing ensued after an altercation between Nagar’s sons and some individuals who were indulging in certain illegal activities in a vehicle parked near the residence..He said that ten individuals, including a well-known gangster, had been named in a First Information Report (FIR), but no action had been taken by the police, and not a single individual has been arrested..He added that 22 rounds of ammunition had been recovered by the police from the Nagar residence, and that a senior police officer had informed him last night that a reward of Rs 25,000 had been announced for information leading tothe arrest off the main accused..Read the appeal
