After prolonged uncertainty and confusion, the Supreme Court seems to have cleared the air regarding the Delhi Judicial Service Exam, 2014..A Division Bench of Justices Dipak Misra and Shiva Kirti Singh today accepted the interim report filed by retired judge Justice PV Reddy, and directed that 12 more candidates be called for interview. These 12 candidates are those who have qualified the main exam after revaluation of their answer sheets by Justice Reddy..Justice Reddy, in his report, had concluded that there was nothing ‘unfair’ about the previous evaluation. During the last hearing of the matter, the court, after a quick perusal of the report, had stated Reddy’s conclusion but had not given details about the changes in marks of the candidates..Subsequently, after a thorough perusal of the report, it had come to light that there were indeed changes in the marks of many candidates and 12 of them had also qualified for the interview..The counsel for Delhi High Court did not oppose the report submitted by Justice Reddy..The Court, therefore, directed the High Court to intimate the 12 candidates forthwith regarding the interview. The interview has to be conducted within 4 weeks by the same bench which had conducted the interview of the 15 candidates who had been initially selected..The lawyers for the petitioners also pointed out that OMR sheets for the Delhi Judicial Service Exam is being filled by using pencil and a direction should be issued that the said practice be discontinued and that OMR sheets be filled by using pen. The Bench observed that the said proposition should be implemented by the Delhi High Court sans any direction by the Court..The court also said that it will consider the suggestion regarding publishing the report of Justice Reddy on the website of the Delhi High Court when the case is taken up on April 25, which has been fixed as the next date of hearing.
