Delhi High Court says income threshold for school admission under EWS quota will be ₹2.5 lakh for now

A division bench of the Court modified a single-judge order passed in December 2023. The Court also stayed an earlier direction to end acceptance of self-declarations of income by families seeking to avail the EWS-quota.

A division bench of the Delhi High Court on Tuesday modified an earlier order by a single-judge that increased the threshold income for school admissions under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category from ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakhs per annum [Directorate of Education v Master Singham & Anr].
