Delhi High Court gets new seniors; One woman lawyer among six designations

The Delhi High Court designated six lawyers as senior advocates today. Mohit Mathur, KK Manan, Vivek Sood, Balbir Singh, Rekha Palli and Mukul Talwar have recieved the gown. Palli has entered the small-yet-steadily growing club of senior woman advocates in the High Court..Palli graduated from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University and enrolled with the Bar in 1986. Speaking to Bar & Bench she said,.“I count this as a really big achievement. I stand humbled and honored and especially as a lady, having so many family responsibilities, to have made my mark with the Bench is a special feeling. I have worked hard in service matters, matters of the armed forces and today the perseverance has paid off.”.Her colleague, Mukul Talwar is also a student of Campus Law Centre and he enrolled with the Bar in 1987 after graduating from St. Stephens College. Palli is a Hindu College alumnus..Manan graduated in law from Meerut University in 1980 and has previously served as the chairman of Bar Council of India. He recently resigned as the Additional Advocate General for the State of Haryana in the Supreme Court. Speaking on his designation, Manan feels that the ‘credit for this achievement goes to the Bench and not to him.’.“I feel immensely proud and happy. While the Bar had recognised me long back, I can now say that the Bench has also judged my performance positively.”.Singh who graduated from Punjab University and enrolled with the Bar in 1998, is the youngest among all the six advocates to get a gown. He was previously Senior Partner in the Delhi office for DSK Legal and resigned in January this year, to set up his counsel practice..” I am delighted that the Court has recognised my ability for a responsible position.
