The Delhi High Court has directed a woman to take down a video from her Instagram account which allegedly showed her being beaten up by a mother-daughter duo for feeding street dogs. .The video had made rounds on social media last year after a woman alleged that she was beaten while she was feeding some stray dogs in Delhi’s East of Kailash area..The ex-parte injunction was granted by Justice Asha Menon in a suit filed by Ahuja who also sought damages of ₹4 crores.“In the light of the contents of some of the posts that have been highlighted and the impact thereof, particularly, on plaintiff No.2, who is a minor, this Court is satisfied that though it is an interim and ex-parte stage, directions be issued to the defendant to take down the offending posts forthwith. The defendant shall also file a compliance affidavit in this regard along with her written statement with an advance copy to the plaintiffs,” the Court observed..The plea argued that while it was true that an altercation had taken place between in June 2021, the matter was settled between the parties at the Amar Colony Police Station.However, the defendant then uploaded “false, libelous, scandalous and defamatory” stories on her Instagram account where the appellant as well which led to many abusive posts targeting her, the plea alleged. It was further submitted that a report was also published in the Indian Express on the issue where, again, the same allegations were repeated by Sudan..The Court, after hearing the counsel for the plaintiff, issued summons to defendant directing her to file her response within a month. The case will now be considered again on April 21 before the joint registrar..Advocates Siddhant Nath, Gaganmeet Singh Sachdeva, Abhay Pratap Singh and Himali Choudhary appeared for the petitioners.
