The Delhi High Court this week granted Senior Advocate and Congress leader Salman Khurshid exemption from personal appearance before the trial court in a trespass case..Khurshid was accused by the Delhi Public School (DPS) Society of trespassing into their office situated in South Delhi along with one other person. Khurshid was once the president of the DPS Society. In 2008, he was expelled from its membership for allegedly indulging in “anti-DPS activities”..Appearing for Khurshid, Advocate Pramod Dubey stated that the summoning order of the trial court was passed without application of mind..The Single Judge Bench of Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva allowed the exemption from personal appearance sought by Khurshid, provided that he is represented by his counsel and does not seek adjournment on the ground of his absence..The Bench also issued notice to the Delhi Police and directed it to file a status report within two weeks on Khurshid’s plea to quash the criminal proceedings against him..The matter will next be heard on May 9..Read Order:
