The Delhi High Court last week directed Mayur Vihar’s Amity International School to publish the particulars of agencies from where text books and stationery items can be procured individually by students..The direction came in a writ petition filed by parents of several students, alleging illegal fee hike by the school along with other malpractices like compulsory procurement of books and stationery from two outlets..The petition filed through Advocates Shohit Chaudhry and Anuj Jhawar sought directions to the Directorate of Education to set aside the hike in fee by Amity International and to conduct an inquiry into the repeated illegal fee hike by the school..The petition also sought an inquiry into the account verification of the vendors for uniforms and books/stationery authorized by the school and their nexus with the school..In the context of procurement of text books and stationery items, the grievance of the parents was that the school has the monopoly over the two outlets from which such material can be purchased. It was being insisted by the school that the entire set be purchased, even if not required..However, the school submitted that it is not insisting on procurement of the text books or the stationery items from only the two outlets, as the said material is available from other agencies as well..The Single Judge Bench of Justice RK Gauba directed that the information regarding procurement of text books and stationery from other agencies be published on the school’s intranet, and listed the matter before the roster bench for further directions..Read Order:
