Delhi government moves Supreme Court against giving LG power to appoint lawyers for State

The Delhi government in its petition said that even the power to decide the fees of counsel representing the State has been given to the LG thereby, crippling the elected government.

The Supreme Court on Monday sought the response of the Central government and the Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) on a plea by the Delhi government challenging the decision of the Centre to confer LG with the power to appoint lawyers to represent State of Delhi in constitutional courts [Government of NCT of Delhi vs Union of India and ors].
