A Delhi court on Tuesday allowed the plea filed by Baramulla Member of Parliament (MP) Engineer Rashid to take oath as an MP under custody parole. .Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Chander Jit Singh of the Patiala House Courts passed the order. The order was passed after National Investigation Agency (NIA) gave its consent. Rashid will be taken to the parliament on July 5 for two hours to take oath. .After defeating Omar Abdullah in Lok Sabha election, Engineer Rashid moves Delhi court for interim bail to take oath.Rashid is currently in Delhi’s Tihar jail and facing charges under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in an alleged terror-funding case.He sought interim bail or custody parole to take oath and perform other parliamentary functions.Rashid won the Baramulla Lok Sabha seat by defeating former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah by over two lakh votes. He was contesting as an independent candidate. Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference leader Sajja d Gani Lone was also contesting from the same seat.The jailed leader was earlier a Member of the Legislative Assembly. His Lok Sabha campaign was managed by his sons Abrar Rashid and Asrar Rashid.
