The Karnataka High Court Tuesday directed the State to produce medical records of jailed actor Darshan Thoogudeepa after the actor’s counsel told the Court that Darshan was suffering from spine related ailments.

Justice S Vishwajit Shetty directed the State Public Prosecutor and Senior Counsel P Prasanna Kumar to submit a copy of Darshan’s medical report by October 28.

The Court was hearing the bail application filed by Darshan challenging a lower court’s order that denied him bail in the Renukaswamy murder case, earlier this month.

Senior Counsel CV Nagesh, who appeared for Darshan, urged the Court to grant bail to the actor, saying that he was “suffering from serious ailments related to his spine” and that he was undergoing medical treatment for the same at the prison hospital.

The Court then said it will first call for the medical records and hear the bail plea further on October 28.

Darshan was arrested on June 11 and is currently lodged in the Ballari Prison.

The dead body of 33-year-old auto-driver Renukaswamy was found on June 9. It is alleged that he died owing to injuries sustained in an attack carried out on Darshan's instructions. The actor allegedly called upon his fans to accost Renukaswamy for making derogatory comments against his partner Pavithra Gowda on social media.
