The Uttar Pradesh government has refused to implement lock down in the State despite a slew of prohibitory directions issued by the Allahabad High Court to be implemented in five cities of UP. .According to report by Hindustan Times , the government officials said that it has taken many steps to curb the spread of virus and further strict steps are being taken..The Allahabad High Court had taken a very grim view of the COVID-19 pandemic situation in UP and proceeded to order closure of all establishments except financial institutions and financial departments, medical and health services, industrial and scientific establishments, essential services including municipal functions, and public transport till April 26. A bench of Justices Ajit Kumar and Siddhartha Varma pulled up the government for its lack of response stating that the medical system could collapse if urgent measures are not taken.The court had issued various orders to the State authorities to be enforced in the cities of Prayagraj, Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur Nagar and Gorakhpur..The government has said that situation of poor should also be taken into account before imposing lockdown and complete lockdown will impact poor people.
