Fox & Mandal has announced the addition of Shantanu Mitra as a Partner to head its Securities and Capital Markets Practice. With over a decade and a half of experience in securities law and capital markets, he shall be joining the Kolkata Office of the firm..Mitra graduated from NUJS, Kolkata in 2007. His career includes significant roles at SEBI, where he was deeply involved in regulatory litigation and investigations. During his professional journey, Mitra has worked with prominent law firms in the country including Desai & Diwanji, Phoenix Legal, Rajani Associates and others before making the move to Kolkata..Mitra's practice at the firm will focus on a broad spectrum, including transactional work, dispute resolution, and advisory services in securities law. During his time with SEBI, he was involved in high-profile investigations of securities law violations and fraud, representing SEBI and various market intermediaries before the Supreme Court of India, the Bombay High Court, and the Securities Appellate Tribunal. His expertise extends to advising on mutual funds, AIFs, insider trading, and fraudulent trade practices.
