Collegium proposes transfer of four Telangana High Court judges; accepts requests of two for transfer to nearby States

The Supreme Court Collegium on Thursday recommended the transfer of four Telangana High Court judges..The four Telangana High Court judges were initially proposed for transfer on August 3. All four judges later requested that they be transferred to neighbouring High Courts.On August 10, the judges' body turned down such a request by two of the four judges and stuck to their August 3 recommendation. However, the Collegium modified its August 3 decision with respect to the remaining two judges and accepted their requests for a transfer to nearby High Courts, the resolutions revealed. .The following are the judges who have been recommended for transfer to different High Courts:Justice G Anupama Chakravarthy to Patna High Court;Justice Munnuri Laxman to Rajasthan High Court;Justice M Sudheer Kumar to Madras High Court; and Justice C Sumalatha to Karnataka High Court..Justice Chakravarthy had consented to her transfer but had requested that she be transferred to any High Court near her parent High Court (in Telangana).Justice Laxman is stated to have requested either for a postponement or to drop the proposal for his transfer. In the alternative, he had sought a transfer to the Karnataka High Court.Justice Kumar is said to have requested for a reconsideration of his proposed transfer to the Calcutta High Court. In the alternative, he had sought a transfer to the High Courts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka or Madras.Justice Sumalatha had also requested a reconsideration of the proposal for a transfer to the Gujarat High Court.
