Collegium recommends appointment of Additional Judges as Permanent Judges  for High Courts of Bombay, Jharkhand and Kerala

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommened that four additional judges each of the Bombay and Kerala High Courts and two additional judges of the Jharkhand High Court be made permanent judges.

Three Collegium statements to this effect were issued on July 21, Tuesday. The Additional Judges proposed to be made Permanent Judges are as follows:

Bombay High Court

  • Justice SM Modak

  • Justice Jamadar N Jahiroddin

  • Justice Vinay G Joshi

  • Justice Avachat R Govind

All four judges were appointed as Bombay High Court judges in October 2018. Judge SM Modak was one of the judges who had accompanied Judge BH Loya to the hospital on the fateful night when he passed away.

Jharkhand High Court

  • Justice Sanjay Kumar Dwivedi

  • Justice Deepak Roshan.

Both judges were elevated as Jharkhand High Court judges from the Bar in February last year.

Kerala High Court

  • Justice VG Arun

  • Justice N Nagaresh

  • Justice TV Anilkumar

  • Justice N Anil Kumar

Whereas Justices Arun and Nagresh were elevated from the Bar, Justices TV Anilkumar and N Anil Kumar were drawn from the judicial services. All four judges were appointed as Additional Judges of the Kerala High Court in November 2018.
