Next year’s Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) will be conducted online. The decision was approved by the CLAT core committee meeting held on Saturday, reports TOI..In a recent interview with Bar & Bench, Dr. Gurdip Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU), Lucknow had expressed the intent to make the whole CLAT process 100% online..The move is a response to the controversies that had occurred in previous editions of the test..“There have been problems in the past conducting the exam, therefore we have done our best to try and make CLAT fully online, from the giving out of applications to the declaring of results”, said Dr. Singh, the Convenor for next year’s test..CLAT 2014 was surrounded by controversy. Less than 24 hours after the results were declared in May this year, CLAT core committee withheld them, citing technical discrepancies. Gujarat National Law University which conducted the test claimed that barcode stickers of some of the answer sheets did not match the candidates’ stickers leading to a number of doubts being raised..The other major change is the inclusion of the Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University in the CLAT admission process. This comes a few months after the CLAT Core Committee had asked DSNLU to reduce the number of reserved seats if it wanted to be included in the CLAT admission process..Image taken from here.
