A group of over 100 lawyers marched outside the Bombay High Court on Monday in support of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), 2019 and raised slogans 'We Support CAA' 'Vande Mataram' and 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'..Members from Advocates' Association of Western India ( AAWI) and others led by Senior Counsel Ramchandra S Apte and advocates Uday Warunjikar, Anjali Helakar, Subhash Ghadge participated in extempore rally from one gate of the High Court to another outside in support of CAA this afternoon.."There is a presumption that every law is valid Constitutionally and the Citizenship Amendment Act is not an exception. Unless any Act is declared as invalid the law continues, and hence we took out a march in support of the CAA," said advocate Uday Warunjikar..Earlier, on January 8, a group of lawyers had assembled at the Supreme Court lawns to sing India's National Song, Vande Mataram, as a mark of their support for the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019..On the other hand, on January 20, adding to the various protests happening all over the country against the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 (CAA), a group of lawyers read the Preamble to the Constitution of India aloud outside the Bombay High Court premises..On January 24, lawyers in Delhi High Court read the Preamble in protest against Citizenship Amendment Act and NRC..Moreover, a group of lawyers earlier this month had gathered at the Supreme Court lawns to read out the Preamble to the Constitution in unison, in protest against the controversial legislation..[Watch Video here]
