Chief Justice bench of Jammu and Kashmir High Court to visit Gaushala in Nagrota after PIL highlights its 'pathetic condition'

The High Court also directed concerned department officials, J&K Gau Raksha Samiti's president and advocate general to remain present at 4:30 PM in the Gaushala.

The bench of Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh will visit a Gaushala in the village of Seri Khurd in Nagrota on June 2 to assess its condition [SAVE V/s State and ors].

The bench of Chief Justice N Kotiswar Singh and Justice Puneet Gupta passed the order in a public interest litigation (PIL) petition filed by a non-profitable organization 'SAVE' claiming that the Gaushala was in a pathetic condition.

"We will visit the Gaushala situated at village Seri Khurd, Nagrota on June 2, 2023," the Court in its order.

The Court has also directed Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation, Director of animal husbandry, medical veterinary officers, president of J&K Gau Raksha Samiti and advocate general to remain present at 4:30 PM in the gaushala.

Moreover, the Court further granted one week's time to respondents to file their response to the report submitted by the petitioner on the condition of the Gaushala.

Senior advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed and advocates Supriya Chauhan and Zulkernain Chowdhary appeared on behalf of the petitioner.

Advocate General DC Raina along with Senior Additional Advocate General SS Nanda and advocate Harshwardhan Gupta appeared on behalf of respondents.
