Justice Pritinker Diwaker to take charge as Allahabad HC judge by October 4

The Central government today notified the transfer of Justice Pritinker Diwaker to the Allahabad High Court from the Chhattisgarh High Court.

The recommendation to transfer Justice Diwaker to the Allahabad High Court had initially been made in January this year. More recently, the Supreme Court Collegium declined to reconsider the proposal for Justice Diwaker’s transfer, As stated in a Collegium Resolution dated September 7,

“The Collegium does not find any merit in his representation and is, therefore, of the opinion that the request made by Mr. Justice Pritinker Diwaker cannot be acceded to. The Collegium accordingly resolves to reiterate its recommendation dated 10th January, 2018 for his transfer, in interest of better administration of justice, to the Allahabad High Court.”

Pursuant to this recommendation, the Central government has issued the notification directing that Justice Diwaker assume charge of his new office at the Allahabad High Court on or before October 4 this year.

Justice Diwaker obtained his LL.B. degree from Rani Durgawati University, Jabalpur, in 1984.  Prior to his elevation, he practiced in the Madhya Pradesh High Court. He was designated as Senior Advocate by the Chhattisgarh High Court in 2005.  He was appointed as a judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court in 2009.
