Outgoing Attorney General for India Mukul Rohatgi today welcomed his successor, KK Venugopal to the AG chamber in the Supreme Court of India..Venugopal was appointed the 15th AG for India last week, after Rohatgi’s term ended on June 11..As reported earlier, Rohatgi opted to return to private practice after serving as AG for more than three years. He took over as Attorney General in 2014 after the BJP government came to power at the Centre. Earlier, he had served as Additional Solicitor General during the tenure of first NDA government under AB Vajpayee..This is the second time Venugopal’s name has been considered for the post. He was earlier considered under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government. Back then, the post was initially offered to Fali Nariman, who had rejected it.
