Centre notifies resignation of Bombay High Court judge, Justice SC Dharmadhikari

The notification intimating the same has been issued by the Central government today..Justice Dharmadhikari had tendered his resignation from his office on February 13..[Breaking] Second senior-most judge of Bombay High Court, Justice SC Dharmadhikari tenders resignation.The notification regarding his resignation, dated February 26, 2020 states:."Shri Justice SC Dharmadhikari has tendered his resignation from office of Judge, Bombay High Court, in pursuance of proviso (a) to clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution, with effect from 15th February, 2020."Notification.Speaking to media reporters, Justice Dharmadhikari had stated that he was tendering his resignation as he wished to remain in Bombay, rather than be transferred as the Chief Justice of another High Court."I had to resign due to purely personal and family issues...I did not want to leave Mumbai and they were not ready to elevate me as the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court.".Justice Dharmadhikari was into the last two years of his tenure as a High Court judge.He comes from a family of lawyers. Born in January 1960, he did his LLB from Bombay University. He enrolled as an advocate in June 1983, following which he practiced on the original and appellate sides of the Bombay High Court..He has served as a member of the Board of Studies on Law, University of Mumbai, as well as a member of the the Disciplinary Committee of Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa.He was elevated as an additional judge of the Bombay High Court in November 2003.
