Centre notifies appointment of Justice Aniruddha Roy as permanent judge of Calcutta High Court

Justice Roy was appointed as an additional judge of the Calcutta High Court in May 2020.

The Central government on Monday notified the appointment of Justice Aniruddha Roy as a permanent judge of the Calcutta High Court.

A notification to this effect dated January 3 has been published on the website of the Ministry of Law and Justice.

"In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Aniruddha Roy, Additional Judge of the Calcutta High Court, to be a Judge of the Calcutta High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office."

On December 14, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the appointment of Justice Roy as a permanent judge. Back in 2020, the Central government had notified the appointment of Roy as an additional judge of the Calcutta High Court.
