The President of India has notified appointment of two advocates, Rahul Bharti and Moksha Khajuria Kazmi as the additional judges of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh..A notification to that effect was issued by the Department of Justice of Union Law Ministry."In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint (i) Shri Rahul Bharti, and (ii) Ms. Moksha Khajuria Kazmi, to be Additional Judges of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, for a period of two years, with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices," the notification said.The Supreme Court Collegium had, in September last year, reiterated the names of the two for judgeship at the High Court. The Collegium had first recommended Bharti's name in March 2021 while Kazmi's name was recommended in 2019. .The High Court of J&K and Ladakh is currently functioning with 13 judges as against its sanctioned strength of 17.[Read Notification]
