The Central government has notified the appointment of three judicial officers as additional judges of the Kerala High Court..The new appointees are: Johnson JohnGopinathan U GirishC Pratheep Kumar.The same was first confirmed by the Union Minister of State (I/C) for Law & Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal via his official X account. .The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the elevation of these judicial officers in a resolution dated October 10. The Chief Justice and the two senior-most judges of the Kerala High Court recommended these names to the Supreme Court Collegium. The Kerala Chief Minister as well as its Governor also concurred with the proposal.The Collegium had noted that there were no adverse remarks against the three judicial officers in the Central government's files on them. It had also noted that John is from a minority community and Kumar is from an OBC community..Two other judicial officers, Snehalatha MB and P Krishna Kumar, were included in the October 10 resolution of the Collegium. However, their elevation has not yet been cleared by the Central government..As of October 11, the Kerala High Court is functioning with 33 judges as against a sanctioned strength of 42.
