Caste of married women applying for government job must be decided based on parents' caste certificate, not husband's: Karnataka High Court

The Court was hearing pleas by married women challenging the State's action of treating them as general category applicants based on caste certificates of their spouse.

The Karnataka High Court on Monday ordered that when determining the caste of married women who have applied for the government job, it is the caste certificate of the parents of the applicant which has to be considered and not that of the husband [Akshata Chougala vs The State of Karnataka and Ors.].
