Calcutta High Court quashes appointment of Vice Chancellors of 29 universities; says State has no power to appoint, reappoint, extend tenure
The Court said that UGC Regulations provide that a VC should be appointed by a 'search committee' comprising of a representative each of the UGC, the State University and the Governor.
