The Calcutta High Court has banned the use of single use plastic on High Court premises, including at the circuit Benches at Jalpaiguri and Port Blair..The decision was taken by the High Court during a Full Court meeting held by the judges on Monday. Pursuant to the decision, the High Court issued a notice intimating that single use plastic will be banned in the High Court from October 1 onwards. The notice states,.“All concerned are hereby informed that as per Resolution of the Full Court meeting held on 23.09.2019, Single-use Plastic shall be banned in the High Court premises including the Circuit Benches of Calcutta High Court at Jalpaiguri and at Port Blair, w.e.f. 01.10.2019.”.The same notice also intimates that Chief Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan will convene an awareness programme at the High Court next Monday..[Read the Notice]
