Three women wrestlers who levelled allegations of sexual harassment against former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh have approached the Delhi court alleging that Delhi Police has withdrawn their security. .An application has been moved by the wrestlers stating that this was done just a day before one of the complainant wrestler has to appear before the Court for deposition. .Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Priyanka Rajpoot of the Rouse Avenue Courts heard the case today and passed an interim order directing Police to provide security to the complainant wrestler till further orders from the Court."In the meantime, as an interim measure to ensure the safety of complainant/victim no. 4 (as per list of witnesses), the DCP concerned is directed to make immediate and appropriate arrangements for her security until her deposition is complete and until further orders from this Court," the Court ordered. The case is listed for hearing tomorrow (Friday) before the Court. .The Court had on May 10, 2024 framed charges of sexual harassment and outraging modesty of women against Singh for harassing five women wrestlers..A total of six wrestlers levelled sexual harassment allegations against Singh. Based on their complaints, the police had registered a first information report (FIR) against the MP.On June 15, 2023, the police filed a chargesheet against Singh for offences under Sections 354 (outraging modesty), 354A (sexually coloured remarks), 354D (stalking) and 506(1) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).The complainants had earlier moved the Supreme Court for the registration of an FIR against Singh. Subsequently, the Supreme Court was informed by the Delhi Police that an FIR was registered and that the investigation was on track.The Court discharged Singh from the allegations made by one of the wrestlers but framed charges with respect to the allegations levelled by five others.
