In a major development, the Supreme Court today sought the presence of a responsible Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer to apprise it of all details on the Unnao rape case..Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi gave this oral direction just before the mentioning started. He said,.“We want a responsible officer of the CBI to come.”.The CBI officer is required to appear before the Court at 12 pm today..The officer will have to inform the Court of the details of the rape case as well as the accident case, which is also being investigated by the CBI..In case the probe details are such that they cannot be divulged in open court, then the CBI officer would be heard in chambers, CJI Gogoi clarified..CJI Gogoi also hinted that the trial of the Unnao case might be transferred to Delhi from Uttar Pradesh..Yesterday, the Supreme Court hinted that it might take up the letter written by the Unnao rape case victim to CJI Gogoi on the judicial side..The letter written by the victim and her family members claimed that they were being threatened by followers of accused BJP MLA, Kuldeep Singh Sengar..The Unnao rape case took a controversial turn after a lorry without a number plate rammed into the car in which the victim was travelling. The victim and her lawyer have been critically injured, while two of her aunts passed away..Foul play on the part of BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar – the accused in the rape case – has been alleged by the mother of the victim..Sengar has been in prison since last year. The Allahabad High Court had, in April last year, ordered the arrest of Sengar for raping a 15-year-old girl in 2017. The Court had also directed that the investigation of the case be handed over to the CBI..Reports suggest that after the Unnao rape victim wrote to him seeking security for herself and her family, CJI Gogoi sought a report from Registrar General Sanjeev S Kalgoankar..According to The Telegraph, the letter did not reach the Chief Justice of India till Tuesday afternoon.
