The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the elevation of Justice Jaswant Singh as the Chief Justice (CJ) of Orissa High Court..The decision was taken at a meeting of the collegium held on 28 September 28.The decision comes in the wake of another Collegium recommendation to transfer current CJ of Orissa High Court, Justice S Muralidhar to Madras High Court. Justice Singh studied law and business administration from Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak before enrolling as an advocate in 1986. From March 1991 till his elevation, he held the posts of Assistant Advocate General, Deputy Advocate General, Senior Deputy Advocate General and Additional Advocate General, in the office of Advocate General, Haryana.He was elevated to the bench in 2007 as a judge in the Punjab and Haryana High Court before being transferred to Orissa High Court in 2021.
