Allahabad High Court has reportedly granted bail to Dr. Kafeel Khan, who was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police in connection with the Gorakhpur tragedy. In that tragedy, sixty-three children had died due to a shortage of Oxygen..Khan has been in jail for eight months after the tragedy. He is among those who were arrested after the tragedy in which infants died at the BRD Medical College in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur due to a shortage in oxygen supply in August last year..It has been alleged that Khan was arrested after he tried to help arrange Oxygen after the shortage in supply came to light..Justice Yashwant Varma had heard the matter regarding the bail application of Dr. Kafeel. Nazrul Islam Jafri, Sadaful Islam Jafri advocates had represented Dr. Khan and the Government was represented by Advocate Vimlendu Tripathi..The Court said:.“Having considered the submissions advanced the Court notes that there is no material on record, which may establish medical negligence against the applicant individually…..…The Court also notes that the charges under sections 7/13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against the applicant have been dropped in the course of investigation.”The Court added, additionally notes that the main supplier of medical oxygen, Manish Bhandari, has already been enlarged on bail by the Supreme Court..”Read Order:
