The Bombay High Court recently got a renovated daycare centre to cater to children of advocates and staff members of its court. .The daycare centre's services can be availed on the payment of nominal fees. The centre is located on the ground floor of the Central Telegraph Office (CTO) building, Fort area of Mumbai beside the High Court building.It was inaugurated on April 2, 2024, by Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya. .The renovated crèche was conceptualised and designed by Justice Revati Mohite-Dere. The work was executed by the Public Works Department of the Maharashtra government.The facility has been made available for children of members of the Bar Associations at the principal bench of the High Court as well as ministerial court staff.It is open from 10 AM to 5 PM every day, on all working days of the High Court.The crèche has also issued guidelines stating they would be admitting children between the age group of 1 to 8 years of age..The daycare centre was first inaugurated in 2017 by the then Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra in the presence of then-Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. It was shut down during the COVID pandemic. Thereafter it was temporarily used for the storage of High Court records and documents. It was renovated and refurbished earlier this month. .The High Court website highlighted that the centre was set up to provide a safe, stimulating and caring environment for children, which would also aid working parents.The crèche is fully equipped with play areas, resting areas, kitchen, etc.
