Bombay High Court refuses to stay BMC circular allowing animal sacrifice in markets, meat shops during Bakrid

The circular by the civic authority allowed animal sacrifices at 67 private meat shops and 47 municipal markets for the upcoming festival to be celebrated on June 17.

The Bombay High Court on Thursday refused to stay the operation of the May 29 circular of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) which permits animal sacrifices at 67 private meat shops and 47 municipal markets during Bakrid on June 17 [Jiv Maitri Trust v. Union of India & Ors.].
