The Bombay High Court today rejected the anticipatory bail applications of Augustine Francis Pinto (Chairman, Ryan International Group of Institutions), Ryan Pinto (CEO, Ryan International) and other officials..The applications were filed in the background of the murder of Pradyumn Thakur, a Class 2 student of Ryan International School in Gurugram..Advocate Nitin Pradhan, appearing for the applicants, submitted that his clients were protected by interim relief granted by the Court since September 12 and prayed that the same be continued for one more day, so that they can approach the Supreme Court..The Single Judge Bench of Justice AS Gadkari accepted the prayer and allowed the continuation of the interim relief till 5 pm on September 15, which was to earlier expire on September 14..However, the judge stated that the said prayer will only be accepted subject to the condition that the applicants shall deposit their respective passports with the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai or any Officer authorised/nominated by the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai on or before 9 pm today i.e. September 14..It was further stated that failure in depositing passports would lead to the interim relief being vacated without further reference to the Court..The father of Pradyumn has already moved the Supreme Court seeking guidelines to ensure safety of students in schools and to fix liability on schools in the event of any violation of such guidelines.
