BCI to approach Government over providing free WiFi, iPads, Laptops for needy lawyers to attend virtual hearings

The BCI's letter also moots the resumption of regular Court hearings to the extent possible, with frequent sanitisation of courts and enforced physical distancing norms.

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has resolved to approach the Central and State Government authorities regarding various grievances and urgent demands with respect to the conduct of virtual proceedings in Court.

In this regard, the BCI has flagged grievances regarding lawyers' inability to access and utilise virtual hearings, and the need for the resumption of limited physical hearings with adequate safety measures amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
