Lawyers must stand up against acts maligning judges: BCI, TNAA condemn Andhra CM's letter against Justice NV Ramana

The statements have been issued in view of a letter recently addressed by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy to the CJI levelling serious allegations against Justice NV Ramana.

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has released a press note condemning the "reprehensible move" of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy targeting Justice NV Ramana, who is next in line to be the Chief Justice of India.

The BCI issued the press release in view of the media reports that Reddy had addressed a letter to the CJI levelling serious allegations against Justice Ramana.

The Tamil Nadu Advocates' Association (TNAA) has also released a statement expressing its anguish over the move to scandalise the judiciary which is termed as being politically motivated to gain clout and settle scores.
