The Bar Council of India today, announced that it would send a five-member team to probe the conduct of Jammu lawyers in relation to the Kathua rape case..The announcement was made by BCI President Manan Kumar Mishra, during the press conference held at the BCI office in New Delhi..The team shall be headed by a former High Court judge, Justice Tarun Agarwala and will have S Prabakaran and Rameshchandra G Shah, both Co-Chairman of BCI, Razia Beig, Former Chairman of Bar Council of Uttarakhand and Naresh Dixit, advocate at Patna High Court..Speaking at the press conference, Mishra stated that,.“The Supreme Court had issued notice to the BCI to look into the matter and determine whether the lawyers of the Kathua Bar Association and Jammu and Kashmir Bar Association were guilty of misconduct.” .He further stated that the lawyers’ association has been asked to call off the strike and their response has generally been co-operative.
