Meet the new BCCI Administrators

The Supreme Court of India today appointed a four-member committee of administrators headed by former Comptroller and Auditor General of India Vinod Rai to run the affairs of the BCCI and implement court-approved recommendations of the Justice R M Lodha panel on reforms in the cash-rich cricket body..The other members of the Committee include Ramachandra Guha, Diana Edulji and Vikram Limaye..A Bench of Justices Dipak Misra, AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud selected these four persons after considering the suggestions made by Amicus Curiae Gopal Subramanium and Anil Divan and Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal who appeared for certain State cricket associations. Divan and Subramanium had given a list of nine names in a sealed cover to the court..The Supreme Court on January 2, in an unexpected decision, had removed President Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke from the BCCI for trying to hinder the smooth implementation of the Lodha panel’s recommendations..Some of the names on the list might be more familiar than others, but it would certainly be interesting to watch how this motley panel devises ways and means to clean up the BCCI and the game of cricket..Vinod Rai.Former Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) Vinod Rai will head the Supreme Court-appointed four-member panel of administrators that will now hold the reins of the BCCI in its hands. She has been ferociously vocal about the shortcomings of the BCCI, thus begging the question: will she be responsible for a sea change in Indian cricket as we know it?.Ramachandra Guha.Celebrated author, renowned historian and prolific columnist, Ramachandra Guha wears many hats. The name however, might appear to be a slight misfit in a panel appointed for overseeing the regulation for cricket, given the lack of direct connection to the game itself. But whether the decision will pay off, only time will tell..Vikram Limaye.Vikram Limaye is the Managing Director & CEO of IDFC Limited. With his background in business advisory services and audit mechanisms, he is expected to be the financial expert in this maverick pick of administrators..With such a diverse profile, might (further) fireworks be expected? From the looks of it, it seems like the BCCI is up for a roller coaster ride.
