The award ceremony for the Prathiba M Singh Cambridge LL.M. Scholarship, an initiative of the Sardar Manmohan Singh Charitable Trust, will take place on Monday, November 8, at 8:30 PM.

The event will see eminent jurist and Senior Advocate Fali S Nariman as the Chief Guest, with several distinguished speakers including Justice Prathiba M Singh.

The Sardar Manmohan Singh Charitable Trust was established in September 2012, with the objective of awarding scholarships to the deserving, and providing financial aid and other incentives to students to enable them to pursue their academics and research work across the globe.

The purpose of this Scholarship is not only to encourage meritorious students to study at Cambridge, but also to enable them to study when a scholarship is the only means of completing their Master's in law. As Justice Singh herself said,

If I had not received the ODAAAS Scholarship in 1991-92, I would not have made it to Cambridge. The scholarship is what changed the course of my life. I just hope scholars who get the scholarship come back to India and support such activities in future.”

Since its inception in 2014, the scholarship has been awarded to 15 meritorious students from various law schools across the country.

The Supreme Court's Justice UU Lalit said,

It is very heartening to see that Justice Prathiba Singh and Shri Maninder Singh are finding ways to give back to society while also promoting higher standards of excellence in Intellectual Property Law. The scholarship provided by the Trust gives tremendous encouragement to young lawyers. I hope the legal community would follow their example in galvanizing young minds and creating more such opportunities. I wish the Trust all the very best for its future endeavours.”

The recipients of this year's Scholarship are Ashirbad Nayak of National Law University, Odisha and Nikhil Purohit of National Law School of India University, Bangalore.
