The Delhi High Court is hearing two cases concerning Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is under arrest in connection with alleged irregularities in the framing of the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy of 2021-22.

One case concerns Kejriwal's plea for bail in the Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) complaint in the matter.

The Court had sought the CBI's response to this plea on July 5, while also noting that Kejriwal approached the High Court directly for bail instead of moving the trial court first.

The other plea being heard today challenges Kejriwal's arrest by the CBI. The CBI arrested Kejriwal on June 26, while he was already in custody in connection with the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) money laundering case in the alleged excise policy scam.

Justice Neena Bansal Krishna will hear both matters.

Notably, Kejriwal was recently granted interim bail (again) by the Supreme Court in the ED case. However, he continued to remain in jail since he is under arrest in the CBI case as well.
