Single member high level committee of Justice KU Chandiwal directed senior IPS officer Param Bir Singh to appear before him in order to avoid execution of bailable warrant..The former Mumbai Police Commissioner who had been missing in action for over 6 months appeared in Mumbai on Thursday after he was granted interim protection from arrest by the Supreme Court on November 22. Singh visited the Mumbai Crime Branch office at Kandivali where he participated in the interrogation. .Justice Chandiwal during the hearing today asked Singh's lawyer, advocate Anukul Seth, when Singh was proposing to appear before the Commission. The Inquiry Committee had previously imposed costs on Singh for non-appearance and then even proceeded to issue a bailable warrant of ₹50,000 after such non-appearance.Despite that, Singh had failed to personally remain present for the hearing.."It will be a ridiculous situation if bailable warrant against him will be executed" Justice Chandiwal added. Seth replied that that he will respond after obtaining instructions from his client. At the end of the hearing, the Inquiry Committee ordered that Seth "should ensure presence of Singh else police will be directed to execute the bailable warrant against him.".The Commission, meanwhile has been continuing with its cross-examination of dismissed cop Sachin Waze. Waze was supposed to be cross-examined by former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh's lawyer. Advocate Anita Castellino, however, sought time to cross-examine stating that her instructing lawyer was unwell, and she was not ready. She also required time to take instructions from Deshmukh who is presently in judicial custody. .The Committee also warned of imposing costs on Castellino for wasting judicial time. However, after speaking to her instructing lawyer, Castallino informed the Commission that she will commence her cross examination of Waze on Friday.
