"Apas me ladke koi fayda nahi hai": Law Minister Kiren Rijiju on executive-judiciary tussle

The Union Law Minister, Kiren Rijiju, on Friday said that tussle between judiciary and executive is meaningless since they are creations of the same Constitution..He, therefore, assured that and the Central government will ensure that the independence of judiciary is protected."We will ensure the independence of Indian judiciary is kept intact and untouched. We (executive and judiciary) are the child of the same parent. We are on the same page and apas me ladke koi fayda nahi hai (no use in fighting amongst ourselves)," he said.Rijiju was speaking at an event organised by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) to celebrate Constitution Day which is on November 26, Saturday.In his speech, the Law Minister stated that for the past 8.5 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the executive had done nothing to undermine the Constitution of India.While the Constitution may have been amended, the spirt of the Constitution remains intact and cannot be changed, he maintained."In the last 8.5 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi we have done nothing to undermine the sanctity of the Constitution. The Constitution may be amended but the spirit of the Constitution cannot be changed," he said..He further highlighted that large amount of funds have been allocated by the government for lower judiciary but the same is not being utilized and this was worrying.
