Dubai-based accountant Rajiv Saxena has moved the Special CBI Court to be made an approver in AgustaWestland case..Accordingly, Saxena has also prayed for pardon in the case in terms of Section 306 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973. The application filed by him states,.“The Applicant humbly prays, without prejudice to his defence, that he may be granted pardon approver under Section 306 of Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 subject to the condition that he will make full disclosure, to the extent, the facts are within his knowledge of which he will make a true and proper disclosure subject to the grant of pardon.”.CBI Judge Arvind Kumar today issued notice to the Enforcement Directorate in Saxena’s plea, and listed the matter for hearing on February 28..Saxena, along with lawyer Gautam Khaitan, is accused of providing corporate structure across the globe for laundering ill-gotten money/proceeds of crime to influence the contract for the supply of 12 VVIP helicopters in favour of AgustaWestland..Saxena was arrested by the ED on January 31 after he was extradited from Dubai. After spending 12 days in ED custody, Saxena was remanded to judicial custody by the Court. Last week, Saxena was granted interim bail by the Court on medical grounds..On January 25, Saxena who is suffering from a number of serious ailments including blood cancer was granted regular bail by the CBI Court..Saxena’s bail plea was not opposed by the ED. The agency had also informed the Court that Saxena cooperated with the investigation throughout his remand.
