The Special CBI Court has today granted bail to Dubai-based accountant Rajeev Saxena, a co-accused in the AgustaWestland case..The order was pronounced by CBI Judge Arvind Kumar..“…considering the overall facts and circumstances and the serious medical condition of accused, the applicant/accused is admitted to bail on his furnishing personal bond in the sum of Rs 5 lac with two sureties of the like amount.“, the order reads..As per the medical report submitted by AIIMS, Saxena is suffering from a number of serious ailments including blood cancer..Saxena’s bail is conditional on him not tampering with evidence or influencing the witnesses in the case. The Court has also directed Saxena to not leave India without the permission of the Court and join the investigation as and when required..While granting the bail, the Court also noted that the other co-accused in the case, SP Tyagi, Gautam Khiatan and others have already been released on bail..Given his medical condition, Saxena’s bail plea was not opposed by the ED. The Agency also informed the Court that Saxena cooperated with the investigation throughout his remand..Saxena, in connivance with lawyer Gautam Khaitan, is accused of providing corporate structure across the globe for laundering ill-gotten money/proceeds of crime to influence the contract for the supply of 12 VVIP helicopters in favour of AgustaWestland..Saxena was arrested by the ED on January 31 after he was extradited from Dubai. After spending 12 days in ED custody, Saxena was remanded to judicial custody by the Court.
