Advani & Co Delhi Partner Apar Gupta has recently resigned from the firm to set up his solo litigation practice. He will be leaving the firm by end of this month..Advani & Co Managing Partner Hiroo Advani commented, “We wish him all the best. He has done a terrific job while he was with us.”.Apar started his career with Karanjawala & Co after graduating from Amity Law School in 2007. He worked there for a year after which he left to pursue Masters at Columbia Law School. Thereafter he returned and worked at Karanjawala for six months after which he set up Accendo Law Partners along with Shashank Garg and Animesh Sinha. With time I was less interested in managing a firm and more interested in practicing law and spending more time in court. I have taken the first step towards that now.”.“In terms of long-term goal, I want to practice more in court and argue cases independently, this will invariably be first through an existing base of clients and hopefully in years through other lawyers and colleagues at the bar.”.Apar is not sure about the model that he will follow but he says,.“I have no plans to transition into a law firm or even work in one in the future, but if I have some colleagues who add complementarity then I may move towards a chamber model in future.”.In 2014, Apar made it to Forbes India’s “30 under 30” list and told Bar & Bench that, “I practice law for the love of law and a better conception of the legal profession.”
