The Karnataka High Court has today, designated Advocates Aditya Sondhi, Sajan Poovayya Shashi Kiran Shetty and Prabhuling Navadgi as Senior Advocates. The formal notification will be issued by the High Court in a few days..Poovayya’s name was recommended by one of the judges of the Karnataka High Court and seconded by few other judges and it was put to vote. He got the highest number of votes – 28 out of 32 followed by Aditya Sondhi, who got 25 votes; Shashi Kiran Shetty got 24 votes and Prabhuling Navadgi got 23 votes..Sondhi, Poovayya and Shetty are graduates of National Law School India University, Bangalore..Both Sondhi and Shetty graduated in 1998. Sondhi has been awarded a PhD in Political Science by the Mysore University. Aditya earlier did his Masters in Political Science from Bangalore University..Poovayya, who graduated in 1996, initially worked in the office of Advocate General Vijayshankar for a year after which he set up his own law firm called Poovayya & Co in 1997. He was appointed Additional Advocate General in 2012-13 when, again, he worked with Advocate General Vijayshankar..On his designation, Poovayya, who is in the 18th year of his practice said, “I have always owed my existence to my parent high court, the Karnataka High Court. The High Court has been very kind to me from the first day of my career as a lawyer. I remember arguing a matter before the Chief Justice’ Bench on the day of my enrollment. I would be absolutely nobody without the affection and honour this court has given me.
