The government of Punjab has come out with a long list of Panel counsel to conduct its cases in the Supreme Court and courts situated outside Chandigarh..The Panel has 76 lawyers divided into four categories..Category A -1 Counsel has 25 lawyers who command the highest fees. Category A-2 has 17 lawyers while Category A-3 and A-4 have 10 and 24 lawyers respectively..Category A-1 consists of prominent Supreme Court lawyers including, Attorney General of India, Solicitor General, Fali Nariman, KK Venugopal, Kapil Sibal, AM Singhvi, Dushyant Dave, Ram Jethmalani, Indira Jaising, Salman Khurshid, Shyam Divan and KV Viswanathan among others..However, it is the A-3 and A-4 categories which stand out due to the presence of relatives of certain sitting judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts..According to Hindustan Times, those who have found place in the A-3 category include Tarunvir Khehar, son of Chief Justice of India, Justice JS Khehar. A-4 category includes Raktim Gogoi, son of Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Saket Sikri, son of Justice AK Sikri, Gurmehar Sistani, son of Justice GS Sistani and Tanmay Mehta, son of Justice Valmiki Mehta. Besides, two relatives of Chief Justice of Rajasthan, Pradeep Nandrajog also find a place in the list..Congress Spokespersons including Manish Tewari and Jaiveer Shergill also feature in the list..Update: Advocate Raktim Gogoi has written to the Advocate General of Punjab stating that his consent was not obtained for inclusion in the Panel.
