The Central government on Thursday notified the appointment of eleven additional judges of the Bombay High Court as permanent judges..The government acted pursuant to a March 12 recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium.The eleven judges are:Justice Urmila Sachin Joshi-Phalke;Justice Bharat Pandurang Deshpande;Justice Kishore Chandrakant Sant;Justice Valmiki SA Menezes;Justice Kamal Rashmi Khat;Justice Sharmila Uttamrao Deshmukh;Justice Arun Ramnath Pedneker;Justice Sandeep Vishnupant Marne;Justice Gauri Vinod Godse;Justice Rajesh Shantaram Patil; andJustice Arif Saleh Doctor.The collegium resolution stated that the Bombay High Court Collegium had also unanimously recommended these 11 judges to be made permanent on December 14, 2023.The Chief Ministers and the Governors of the States of Maharashtra and Goa concurred with the above recommendation.Justice Joshi-Phalke and Deshpande were notified as additional judges by the Central government on June 3, 2022.The other 9 were notified as additional judges by the Central government on July 16, 2022.With the eleven judges being made permanent, the High Court will now have 51 permanent judges and 17 additional judges..[Read Notification]
