National University of Singapore wins inaugural International Banking and Investment Law Moot Symbiosis Noida comes in second place

The inaugural edition of the International Banking and Investment Law Moot Court Competition 2012, saw the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore defeat Symbiosis Law School, Noida in the finals. Kalika Mehta RGNUL, Patiala, was adjudged as the Best Oralist while Army Institute of Law, Mohali won the Best Memorial Award..The competition was organized by the Seedling School of Law & Governance, Jaipur National University and saw the participation of thirty teams. The winning team, consisting of Trent Ng Yong En, Ramandeep Kaur and Cheng Hiu Lam Larisa, bagged a cash prize of Rs. 25,000. The runners up team, consisting of Arnav Das, Abhisek Das Choudhury and Tanaya Bhatnagar, were given a cash prize of Rs. 15, 000..The final rounds were adjudged by Justice Karni Singh Rathore, President of the Central Administrative Tribunal (Jaipur), Justice (Retd) P.C. Jain of the Rajasthan High Court and S.G. Vyas, Ex-Chairman of the CII, Rajasthan Chapter..Speaking to Bar & Bench, the Convener of the Moot Court Committee Shashank Sharma said that this was the first time that Rajasthan was “exposed to such a unique international moot.” He also noted that, “Jaipur National University is now amongst the few private universities of the country to hold an International Moot Court Competition.”.Trent Ng, of the winning team, told Bar & Bench that the judges were extremely well versed with the facts, “which was a relief as we didn’t have to explain the case to the judges.” Kalika Mehta who was adjudged as Best Oralist said that, “The competition was International in its true sense taking the Moot Court culture in law schools of India a step further. It was a great learning experience on the whole.”
